Burning Man

I had the incredible opportunity to attend Burning Man this year. Having travelled to over 40 states, I had never been the state of Nevada before Burning Man. "Rites of Passage" was the theme this year, and very fitting for a variety of reasons.

Dengue Fever--the band, not the virus.

I heard about this band on NPR long before I actually visited Cambodia. This fueled my desire to visit the country after listening to a clip on Fresh Air stating that many Cambodian pop musicians were killed and their music ruined during the genocide in the middle to late 1970s. One of their lead singers is Cambodian and has an incredible voice.

The Killing Fields located a few miles outside of Phnom Penh. A museum and memorial document the atrocities of the Cambodian genocide.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum also known as S21. During the Cambodian genocide, S21 was a school that was turned into a prison and torture chamber.
